
London based biotech company DaltonTx has emerged from stealth with a £4 million seed round to develop what it calls the “intelligence backbone” of drug discovery. The investment will be used to advance an adaptive artificial intelligence platform designed to streamline how new medicines are discovered and developed.
DaltonTx’s platform is described as disease and technology-agnostic, intended to integrate with pharmaceutical, biotech and contract research organisations. The system goes beyond predictive modelling by acting as an adaptive reasoning engine that learns from every scientist, model and experiment, covering the full discovery process from data generation to molecular design and decision-making. It supports both small molecules and biologics, making it relevant across a wide range of therapeutic areas.
The company was founded by Dr Garry Pairaudeau, Adrian Rossall, Dr Anthony Bradley and Professor Charlotte Deane MBE, who bring experience from AstraZeneca, Exscientia and the University of Oxford. Investors in the round include Redalpine, IQ Capital and Seedcamp, with support from Oxford University Innovation.
DaltonTx’s emergence reflects the growing confidence in AI-driven discovery, even in a cautious investment climate. The company’s platform targets a long-standing bottleneck in pharmaceutical R&D, where organisations often lack the capacity to build in-house AI systems that can work across discovery modalities. By offering an adaptable platform, DaltonTx aims to shorten discovery timelines and improve the probability of success for new drugs.
However, moving from proof of concept to industry adoption will be a significant challenge. Integrating into existing workflows, ensuring regulatory compliance and demonstrating measurable value will determine how far the company can go. Its dual focus on small molecules and biologics is ambitious and will require substantial technical validation.
If DaltonTx succeeds, it could reduce the time, cost and uncertainty of early-stage drug development and strengthen the UK’s position in the global life sciences innovation landscape. The company’s next steps will be closely watched as a test of whether adaptive AI can deliver on its promise in real-world drug discovery.
